Charlie, The Steak was a 2013 mobile game developed by DynamicDust for iOS devices. It was advertised as a stress-reliever game wherein you can torture a sentient piece of steak.
It was taken off the App Store in 2015 and since then has been considered lost media.

Sometime in April of 2024, a TikToker made a meme which used a picture of Charlie from the game with the song "Vacation" by Dirty Heads playing over it, calling it "e e ei." This was intended to be a spinoff of the "oi oi oi red larva" meme from a few months prior, which itself was (presumably) inspired by the Gegagedigedagedago meme before it.
Shortly after, content farms latched onto the meme en masse in record time, continuing to pump out videos featuring both oi oi oi and e e ei. A few examples are shown below.
The meme was big enough to catch the attention of the original developer of Charlie, The Steak which prompted him to work on a remake. The remake released on the App Store on December 31, 2024 and was essentially just the original game but updated to be playable on modern iOS devices.

On June 9th that same year, a Spanish parody of e e ei i'm on vacation was created by the latinx YouTuber Vristok, featuring a hyperdetailed 3D model of Super Meat Boy. Content farms were again quick to adopt it for their videos, and "ei ei ei estoy de vacaciones" became a new variant featured in the videos alongside oi oi oi and e e ei.
